Although it doesn’t sound like it, Moon Observers Handbook is essentially a "re-mix" of All The In Between. But all likeness to the parent song has been obliterated. After All The In Between was recorded, various samples were taken from it, sliced and diced on computer, and re-assembled. A few additional sounds and instruments were added and a completely different song emerges. A loop in 7/8 time reminiscent of tribal drumming begins the song. Soon added to that is a looped string instrument in 4/4 time. Because of their differences in time signature, these two loops ricochet off each other; sometimes in time, sometimes clashing. Other sounds, voices, and instruments are added and subtracted over time to create the ebb and flow of the song.
